Decent Coffee but Slow Shipping

The coffee is great. Customer service, however is horrid. When I called and complained about an order that didn't materialize, it took them days to get back to me. They corrected the problem, but it was frustrating in the meantime. So long as they could work on response time, it would be a much better experience.

Slow Shipping and Communication
My order number is #12345, and it was placed on October 26th. It arrived on November 8th, which is a pretty long time after the estimated delivery date of October 31st. The tracking information was not updated regularly, which made me frustrated. I tried to contact customer service via email on October 29th and November 2nd, explaining the delay and requesting an update, but only received a generic automated reply on November 5th. When I finally placed the call on November 7th, the person answering was polite but not helpful in explaining the delay, beyond waving the flag of "unforeseen logistical issues." The most inconveniencing consequence of the delay was that I had to literally run out of my regular coffee. While I realize things happen, the lack of communication was the most frustration-inducing aspect of this experience.

Damaged Goods
My last shipment (order number 67890) was indeed delivered with damaged packaging. Along the side seam, the packing bag was split open, leaving some of its beans spilled around the shipping package. When opening the bag inside, I find that the bean's aroma significantly lacks the fragrant smell usually associated with those beans, hinting that this was exposed air and likely older than it might have been at its best fresh. I have images from the damaged packaging and the stale beans. I would say the consumer care service is horrible after contacting them via e-mail to claim back or get it replaced but still no response apart from the automated email acknowledgement. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially for a product that's consumable.

Not the Right Grind
I ordered (order #13579) a certain grind size, which is "coarse grind" for French press. Product description explicitly gave this option, but the bag that arrived is labeled "fine grind." Now the coffee cannot be used since fine grind in a French press will lead to over-extraction and bitterness. I reached out to their customer service via online chat support to ask if an exchange is an option. They confirmed the mistake on their end and will be honoring a refund upon return of the wrong bag. I appreciate the refund, still find myself with no correct grind size, and it has added an inconvenience to returning the bag.

Poor Customer Service
I wanted to know about the return policy on coffee beans because I was thinking of trying a new blend. I called customer service on November 9th at about 2:00 PM. The representative who answered me was abrupt and seemed not to care about my problem. When I asked them to specify what they do with opened coffee, they said, "There's nothing we can do," which was very frustrating. They were not able to provide any other alternatives or explain the company policy clearly. They just said it was not their policy to take back opened food items, which I can accept, but that is not how one should behave with a customer.

Coffee Not as Described
I ordered the "Sumatran Mandheling" coffee (order #24680) after reading the online description, which mentioned notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and a rich, earthy aroma. However, the coffee I received had a flavor profile that was significantly different from what was described. Instead of the chocolate and brown sugar notes, it tasted quite bitter and acidic with a more pronounced smoky flavor. While I know taste is subjective, this was very far off the description, so I figured it was acceptable but not like they said it was. The roast may have been something different or possibly a labeling error, but not what I was expecting based on the product description.

Unreliable Shipping Process
Ordered a big lot of coffee expecting to have them delivered within days, but it took weeks. No tracking updates, and customer support was really slow. After several calls to inquire about the update, they said there indeed was a delay, but nothing was done about it. No communication is really frustrating. When the package arrived, the coffee was fine, but all this fuss isn't worth it. A company that specialises in delivering coffee should be able to work out some proper logistics.

Customer Support Is Hard to Reach
Selection of coffee is excellent, but in case of an issue, the wait will be long. E-mails sent out for days never get replied, and when one calls, one has to sit on hold for a very long time. It should be simple to rectify an order that was missing an item, but getting any support was tough. Finally, after multiple follow-ups, they sent a replacement, but the whole process was harder than it needed to be.
