Choices are few
The offered coverage options were pretty restricted. So, I was somewhat disappointed with the fact that the company didn't seem to be more flexible in terms of tailoring the policy according to my special needs while traveling. Furthermore, the support team was kind, yet not deep enough in terms of knowledge regarding the issues that made it really complicated to get really detailed answers to the questions I had. The website is great and easy to use, but when filling out the forms for making a decision, some of the general information about details of the specific policies really confused me.

I had a very urgent question about my policy, and actually when I directed it to customer service, it took a while to get a response. Although the final answer I received was helpful, the overall delay left me a little concerned about their ability to respond during an actual emergency. The site itself is user-friendly, but this experience made me think that perhaps they have a less effective support team in emergency situations. A turn-around on responses to questions would enhance my confidence in their service.

The claims process was not as simple as I had envisioned. Even though the policy was looked very thorough, when time came to file a claim it so seemed to be convoluted. Scope of documentation was never really stated, which had delay in the processing. The problem was subsequently corrected, but this lack of clarity in directions probably hastened the anxiety already involved in this difficult situation.

I have found the information from the website to not be consistent with the communication that customer support would eventually provide to me. It did not really allow me to trust the process completely; it made me question the choices I had taken. While plans may sound promising, clarity and consistency are surely important in something as critical as travel insurance. Much better communication and servicing alignment between the departments would have profoundly enhanced the experience.

Cancellation Fees Too High
I had to cancel at the last minute, and the cancellation fees for the policy were awfully high. I know fees are just part of the deal, but this felt a little too steep given the scope of service. At least, the cancelation policy might be provided with at least more flexibility for unforeseen events. This experience makes me not want to use TripInsure101 again.
