Confusing Fee Structure

Not Reliable for Important Jobs
I used Thumbtack to book a moving company, and while everything looked great online, the actual service was chaotic. The movers were late, unorganized, and damaged a piece of furniture. When I tried to follow up, they stopped responding. Thumbtack didn?t offer any meaningful resolution. I learned the hard way that just because someone has good reviews doesn?t mean they?ll do a good job. I think the platform puts too much responsibility on the user without offering protection. For major services like moving, I?ll definitely be going elsewhere. Thumbtack is okay for small tasks, but nothing more serious.

Poor Quality Control
I hired a pro through Thumbtack to do some painting in my home. The guy seemed fine at first but rushed the job, left paint on my floors, and didn?t clean up after himself. I tried to leave an honest review and noticed it didn?t even post. I?m starting to wonder if negative feedback gets buried. There should be better vetting of the service providers and more support for customers when things go wrong. I don?t feel like the platform takes quality seriously, which is a problem when you?re spending hundreds of dollars on a service.

Overcharged Without Notice
I booked a house cleaner on Thumbtack who quoted me a flat fee. When the job was done, she asked for nearly double the price, claiming it took longer than expected. I showed her the original quote, but she refused to honor it. I reported the issue to Thumbtack, and they basically told me they don?t mediate pricing disputes. That?s unacceptable. If a quote is agreed on through the platform, it should be honored. Otherwise, what?s the point? This experience made me feel like customers aren?t protected at all. Very disappointed with how it was handled.
