Not Great for Espresso
I purchased these beans to use for espresso, but the taste was too bitter and had no depth. I tried different grind sizes, and I still could not get an even shot. It's sad because I figured the quality for the price was better. I would suggest using other roasters for espresso if you like.

Smooth Transactions and Great Coffee

Unimpressive Flavor
The beans had no scent or taste I was expecting. Regardless of how I brewed it, the coffee had no taste and was nearly tasteless. I don't know if the beans were stale or roasted incorrectly, but they failed to meet the website description. I won't be buying from them again.

Delays and Lack of Transparency
I had one of the largest complaints about the delivery process. There was no notification after I ordered, which took several days, and when I contacted them, I got a standard delay response. The beans took nearly two weeks to arrive, which is not great when freshness is a selling feature. When they arrived, the packaging was good, but the roast was flat and the taste was subdued. Making several cups through various methods did not enhance the experience. The beans were uncharacteristic and lacked complexity. I had expected greater clarity and improved service communication. Although the brand positions itself as boutique and detail-focused, the execution felt more like a typical bulk order operation. It's difficult to pay top dollar when service and product do not match that quality. Greater openness about shipping and more consistent order handling would be a huge leap toward greater trust.

Not Ideal for Espresso Lovers
Bought one bag that was touted as excellent for espresso use, but the experience was definitely not good. The beans were oily and stuck together in clumps, something that can lead to problems with grinders. When I did manage to pull a shot, it was bitter and deficient in the body and crema of a good-quality roast. I tested dose, grind, and temperature?everything an experienced home barista would tinker with?but couldn't even manage a balanced shot. I emailed the company to request details on roast level and suggestions, but received only standard customer service responses. For a site marketing itself on specialty beans and expertise, the brevity of their product descriptions and lack of support was maddening. If you're one who likes to dial in espresso at home, these beans wouldn't provide you with much to play around with. The experience was bland, lacking the quality and care that specialty coffee needs to have.

Tasty Coffee, Slightly Pricey

Exceptional Decaf Options
It's difficult to find good quality decaf coffee, but Pebble & Pine provides great selections. The Peru Chachapoyas Decaf had a rich flavor without the sense that something was missing. Disconnected Experience from Marketing to Delivery
Pebble and Pine's marketing and website present the experience of a very much curated, top-end coffee experience, but my order was nothing like that. The coffee itself took almost two weeks to arrive with no word in between. When it finally arrived, the packaging was lackluster, and the beans were oily and irregularly roasted. The coffee brewed tasted burnt with none of the complexity you'd expect from specialty fresh beans. Customer support replied after I asked why there were delays and provided a generic apology without a reason as to why. I experimented with a couple of different brewing techniques, but nothing helped to recover the flavor. The experience, overall, seemed disconnected from what was being sold on the site. An organization that is concerned with freshly roasted coffee beans needs to be consistent in product and communication. There are other options that do exist which bring their marketing and quality results and service together.

If you enjoy coffee, you owe it to yourself to sample Pebble and Pine. The quality is superb, and the coffee is continually new and full of flavor. Lacking Freshness
The coffee came with little aroma, and tasted flat. I don't know if it was an old batch or stored in a bad way, but it didn't taste freshly roasted. I do appreciate the attempt, but I would have expected better in both taste and freshness. I doubt very much I would be ordering again.

Stale Beans and Unhelpful Support
My coffee arrived tasting stale. The beans did not have that bright, aromatic scent that you associate with a specialty roaster. Worse yet, there was no roast date marked anywhere, which immediately made me wonder how fresh the beans were. I brewed it a few different ways hoping for an improved cup, but the taste was still flat and uninspired. It actually tasted more like generic supermarket coffee than it did premium roast. I contacted the customer service department to complain, and the response was standard and non-responsive. There was no attempt made to correct the issue or provide a replacement. I enjoy good coffee and realize that every batch is going to be different, but freshness should never be a concern with a company that promotes freshly roasted beans. Without quality control and responsiveness support improvements, I won't be giving them a second chance.

Lack of Consistency in Orders
I tried them after hearing good reports about this company, but it has not been a smooth ride. The initial order came on time, and the coffee was alright, but nothing special. My second order had beans that were stale tasting and did not have the tasting notes promoted. It was like a totally different product from the initial one, and not in the positive sense. I contacted to inquire regarding inconsistencies, but the reply came across as rehearsed and included no explanation or solution except a blanket promise of quality. The spotty experience makes it difficult to believe in the product in the future, particularly for an individual looking into a subscription. Coffee is such an intimate experience, and when the same product differs so significantly between batches, it quite upsets the experience. I had been expecting a more selected and reliable coffee experience but found myself doubting the brand after only two orders.

Not Worth the Hype
I have used a number of roasters, and this one is not even close. The beans were stale-tasting, and nothing I did would get the taste to improve. It was dull, without the brightness and depth that specialty coffee needs to possess. From this experience, I do not believe it is worth the cost or the wait.

Website Promises Don?t Match Reality
The site makes high promises with mention of freshness, small batch roasting, and top-quality beans. But the actuality didn't match that image. The shipment took longer than anticipated to arrive, and there were no communication updates sent out during that interval. When the beans did arrive, they didn't have much of a scent and tasted flat regardless of what brewing method I employed. I experimented with French press, pour-over, and even espresso?each yielded similarly unimpressive results. Most disappointing was the complete lack of transparency when it comes to bean origin and roast dates. The packaging is nice but doesn't tell you much about the product itself. I contacted support in hopes of an explanation, but the answer was short and didn't address my questions at all. There is promise here, but without improved consistency and communication, it's difficult to feel assured in ordering again. The branding-to-product gap is too great here.

Beans Didn?t Meet Expectations
The process of ordering was adequately smooth, though. After that, however, things began to go wrong. The beans weren't fragrant, and what came out once brewed was nothing special?no depth, no brightness, and definitely nothing reminiscent of the taste notes described. I was expecting a well-established roast, yet what I got was either hastened or too much. I tried a range of methods?Aeropress, Chemex, espresso?but none produced a cup fit for consumption. It's apparent something went amiss in the roast or storage process. Contacted customer service with thorough feedback, expecting a helpful response, but received only a generic apology and no answer. For a company that sells itself on specialty quality and freshness, this was more of a mass-market experience. Presentation was fine, but content was absent. If you appreciate well-made coffee, there are better, more consistent roasters available who will provide you with quality both in flavor and customer service.

The coffee was not worth the hype. It was bland and lacked any complexity. For the cost, I would have expected a far superior product. I experimented with different brewing methods, but the taste remained flat. With the competition out there, I will be buying my coffee somewhere else next time.

Overhyped

Nice Idea But Poor Execution
The ideal of freshly roasted coffee in the comfort of your own home sounds wonderful, but the follow-through here fell short. The beans that were shipped to me had already been roasted a week prior to when they reached me, and they did not have a particularly fresh scent about them. After they were brewed, the taste was bland and confused?certainly not what you'd get from high-quality beans. The advertised tasting notes were nowhere to be found. Maybe the beans weren't held properly, maybe the roast level wasn't stable, but what happened was a product that wasn't up to par. I reached out to support to seek guidance or possibly a replacement but they didn't seem all that interested in speaking to the issue. This is potentially a quality company with an improved quality check and greater dedication to customer suggestions. Until then, I?ll be going elsewhere for my specialty coffee needs.

Missing the Freshness
The beans weren't as fresh as I hoped, and the flavor suffered because of it. I did everything I could to try and brew a good cup, but the flavor was still stale and flat. Without an obvious roast date, it's difficult to know if this was a bad batch or just a normal problem.

Great Coffee, Minor Shipping Delay
I do like the Pebble and Pine coffee ? it's rich and tastes great. But my recent order took a couple of days longer to arrive than expected, which disrupted my routine slightly. Customer service was helpful and responded promptly, however, and did get it resolved. I'll keep ordering since the quality is excellent, but do hope the delivery becomes more regular.

Coffee Quality Didn?t Meet Expectations
The idea of just-roasted beans was the initial attraction towards Pebble and Pine, yet the product was not what I expected. The beans appeared too-roasted and resulted in an unpalatably bitter cup regardless of method of brewing. I experimented by varying grind setting, water heat, and even different machines but to no avail ? the taste profile remained stinging and unfledged. Furthermore, the packaging did not include a roast date, which was disappointing for a company that prides itself on freshness. Customer service was courteous but not very effective in solving the problem. They provided a general recommendation instead of solving the exact issue. The whole experience didn't live up to the premium branding they advertise. It's annoying when promises made by slick marketing and website design don't carry over into the product itself. While some might have been luckier, my experience was short of expectations. I expected greater quality control and customer service for a specialty coffee company.

Pebble and Pine coffee failed to bring the taste I was looking for. It read well on paper?single origin, fresh roast, nice packaging?but after brewing, it lacked. None of the complexity, none of the bright notes that I would anticipate from specialty-grade beans. Despite varying grind size and brewing methods, the outcome was always underwhelming. There's also a lack of transparency on roast dates, which makes one wonder about true freshness. Shipping was fairly quick, but that couldn't compensate for the unflavorful cup I was left with. Customer service was courteous but generic, and didn't provide much assistance when I contacted them with feedback. There are plenty of coffee suppliers out there with more robust flavor profiles and greater transparency regarding bean origins and roasting methods. Pebble and Pine is more like a design-oriented brand than one concerned with the product's substance and caliber. Not a return shopper here.

Packaging Looks Good but Quality Isn?t There
At first glance, Pebble and Pine appears to be a consideration and well-named company. The site is clean, and the packaging is neat. But when it's time for the actual coffee to shine, it just doesn't deliver. The taste was flimsy and confusing, and it didn't make a difference if I was using a pour-over or a press. I continued to adjust the grind and brew proportions in an attempt to extract something interesting from the beans, but the cup was always flat. Also concerning was the absence of clear information regarding origin and roast information?something any specialty roaster should be forthcoming about. The company wasn't offering sufficient detail for a person attempting to know what they were consuming. I contacted them to request further information, but the answer was generic and seemed to be automated. With all the good coffee available online these days, it's not easy to find a reason to return to one that doesn't live up to expectations.

Uninspiring Coffee and Minimal Support
Gave Pebble and Pine a try due to the stylish website and good reviews, but was left let down by both the coffee and the service. The beans did not yield much in terms of flavor?merely a flat, almost stale cup that did not have the complexity I'm seeking. Worse still was the imprecise product labeling. There was no roast date, no variety details, and hardly any information at all beyond generic origin. For a business selling fresh, specialty coffee, that is a huge miss. When I emailed to inquire about roast level and freshness, I received a canned response with no actual details. I've had better service from much smaller roasters who at least have the courtesy of being open and responsive. Sadly, Pebble and Pine failed to live up to its name. This could have been a one-off issue, but there wasn?t enough customer support or quality in the cup to warrant trying again.

Overhyped and Underwhelming
After going through all the reviews and checking out the nice-looking website, I thought I would take a leap of faith to try Pebble and Pine. Unfortunately, it was a letdown. The coffee did arrive a week after I ordered it, but while I get delays can occur, the beans were not fresh when they arrived. The scent was missing, and the flavor was lacking the depth that I was looking for. I brewed it multiple times, varying for grind and brewing methods, but the coffee was still flat and lacking flavor. It's not reassuring that there is no date on the package when it was roasted. I contacted customer service with little success in solving the problem. I like that they have different beans from all over the world, but the product itself requires much better care to freshness and quality of flavor. Until things are changed, I will not be back.

I've tested a few different batches from Pine and Pebble now, and the inconsistency has left me in doubt about their quality control. It's difficult to pay for high-end beans when the product tastes uneven and doesn't have the detail you'd want from specialty coffee roasters. The lack of a roast date on the package is another complaint that piles onto my frustration. Overall, the product is promising, but they must work on consistency and transparency to make me feel comfortable recommending it to others.

Fresh Beans and Great Selection

Lackluster Beans and Delivery Delays
I had high hopes about attempting Pebble and Pine having heard of their specialty coffee brews, but the experience failed to impress. To begin with, the shipment took a whole lot longer than I had estimated, and I didn't hear any news regarding the shipping status until I got in touch with them. Once the beans eventually turned up, they felt stale, devoid of that new, fresh smell high-quality coffee ought to have.". I brewed them every way I knew how?pour-over, espresso, French press?and the flavor was dull and unidimensional. The beans tasted over-roasted, and there wasn't any of the lively flavors advertised on the website. More galling was not knowing the date they were roasted. Without it, I had no way to measure if it was just a bad batch or an ongoing problem. After contacting customer service, I received an apology but no real solution. It's disappointing when a brand with so much promise can't deliver on its core product.

Consistently Great Quality

Subscription Difficult to Manage
Registered for the subscription in anticipation of ease and quality but encountered several issues. The order management interface is not user-friendly and confusing. Skipping or rescheduling an order is more laborious than necessary. When I reached out for assistance from customer support, it took a long time to receive responses and the instructions were vague. The coffee itself was not good enough to make the aggravation worthwhile. One batch was too oily, another was flat and stale, and it was difficult to consistently enjoy. I persisted for three months expecting that it would change, but it didn't. It became more annoying each time a delivery was late or included poor beans. Cancelling was another hassle that required several emails. The inflexibility and reactive support make it difficult to recommend the subscription. A convenience-selling service ought to at least offer intuitive features and prompt assistance. Overall, the experience was not worth the investment.

Disappointing Roast
The beans were unevenly roasted, with some of them burnt and others under-roasted. This had an impact on the flavor, which became bitter and awful. Enjoyable Brew, Occasional Variation

Disappointed with Subscription Service
The concept of a subscription for coffee appealed to me as being convenient, so I subscribed with anticipation of getting freshly roasted beans on a regular basis. Regrettably, it turned out to be a frustrating affair. Delivery was irregular?sometimes weeks ahead of time, other times more than a week behind. The levels of roasting also varied tremendously with each delivery, impacting the taste adversely. Communication with the firm wasn't as smooth as I had anticipated. I contacted several times about delayed deliveries and never received a clear reason. Canceling the subscription didn't go smoothly either, leaving a bad taste. The actual coffee was mediocre at best with muted flavors typically experienced in other specialty brands. For a service that advertised quality and convenience, the experience was not that. I genuinely hoped to find a go-to coffee provider, but instead, I ended up disappointed and frustrated. Reliability and consistency need serious improvement.
