I applied for a loan with MPOWER Financing. While I did get excited about their offer, when I needed to pay off the loan, I found the terms to be in some kind of confusion. I actually expected a fixed schedule of payment but has more charges and adjustments that were not made clear initially. Not very helpful with their support when clarifying the amount to be paid back. While I like the idea of accessing funds for international students, not being completely transparent with repayment terms had to be a big headache for me. Application Process Took Longer Than Expected
Although the loan application form was very simple to fill in, it actually took a much longer period than I expected before receiving approval. I was left with weeks of waiting without any word, which does not help at all in reducing stress. When the answer finally arrived, I was approved but delays tended to raise a question about the efficiency of MPOWER given that it claims to support students for school. I would have expected a smoother process from a financial institution that proclaims to support students. Eventually, I received the loan, but delays in communication and responses made me disappointed.

I actually applied for a loan with MPOWER Financing; I had pretty high hopes. Unfortunately, the customer service was pretty frustrating. I wrote to them whenever I have some concerns or questions and usually took days before they gave me a response. Usually vague or not helpful in their response. Since it's a financial company dealing with finance, I expected so much about their customer support; it ought to be very professional and efficient. Actually, I had to seek help from elsewhere. This was pretty frustrating since I had already used so much time and effort.

High Interest Rates for Some Borrowers
While MPOWER Financing does offer loans for international students without a cosigner, the interest rates for some borrowers run a bit on the high side. I had to pay much more in interest than I was quoted up front, and the fixed rates do not have flexibility in terms or offering better rates where certain borrowers can be proven to be in better financial standing. Given these aspects, I could not recommend this lender to others. International students are presumably at a higher risk, but I feel that MPOWER could be more transparent with their lower rates in some cases.

Complicated Loan Repayment Process
I borrowed from MPOWER Financing and was so happy that it seemed so easy to apply for. However, now I'm repaying the loan, and it's a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. The repayment process itself is not really straightforward with their portal, so I had to figure out how to do online payments on my own. What's worse, I did not know that repayment would change depending on the state in which I live. I've had to put up with confusing statements and unclear charges ever since. If you are going with MPOWER, prepare to ask questions a lot and have patience.
