Informative resources

Their planning guides really helped us get organized with college savings. There?s a lot to read, but once you sit down, it starts to make sense. They clearly care about helping families?not just pushing loans. Could use some video summaries too for folks who prefer visuals.

img 5/5.0 26, Jun 2025

Easy to navigate

The site was easy to move through. I was able to find the U.Plan details without much effort.

img 5/5.0 18, Jun 2025

Solid experience

Everything went smooth from applying to receiving loan funds. No confusion at any point. Pretty solid overall.

img 5/5.0 10, Jun 2025

Trusted advisor feel

They aren?t trying to be flashy. They?re just steady, clear, and trustworthy.

img 5/5.0 01, Jun 2025

Perfect for planning

Been using MEFA since high school. Helped me plan early, and now I?m debt-free.

img 3/5.0 23, May 2025

Mixed thoughts

MEFA?s no-fee loan was what got my attention, but the rate wasn?t as low as I hoped. The paperwork was also confusing and could?ve been explained better. They were helpful on the phone, but it shouldn't take calling to understand basic terms.

img 5/5.0 14, May 2025

Really good resources

Their blog posts and checklists are useful. I used them a lot for scholarship planning.

img 5/5.0 05, May 2025

Real people helping

Called customer service and got someone who actually knew what they were talking about.

img 5/5.0 26, Apr 2025

Good refinancing terms

Terms were flexible and fit my budget better than federal options. I like that I had choices.

img 1/5.0 15, Apr 2025

Support hard to reach

Customer service phone was always busy or voicemail. When I did reach someone, they couldn?t provide clear answers and I was left confused. It made the refinancing process really stressful. They should improve their support availability.

img 5/5.0 06, Apr 2025

No surprise fees

I appreciate that there?s no app or prepayment fees. That?s rare with student loans.

img 5/5.0 27, Mar 2025

Helped at every step

I was totally new to this stuff but their resources really walked me through things.

img 5/5.0 18, Mar 2025

Good for repeat use

Used MEFA for both my kids now. First time was great, and second time went even smoother.

img 4/5.0 09, Mar 2025

Great customer support

Called MEFA twice with questions and both times they were really patient. They walked me through all the payment plan options and didn?t rush me. Just wish they had chat support too. Phone is fine, but not always convenient. I?d still use them again.

img 5/5.0 28, Feb 2025

Great communication

They sent updates during the loan process and nothing ever felt like it was left hanging.

img 5/5.0 19, Feb 2025

User-friendly site

Website isn?t flashy but it works. Found what I needed quickly and without extra digging.

img 4/5.0 10, Feb 2025

Fairly easy process

We applied for MEFA?s undergraduate loan and found the process fairly easy. Only thing is, their communication during the final step was a little slow. Other than that, no major complaints. The rate was fair, and it?s nice knowing there?s no extra fees tacked on.

img 5/5.0 31, Jan 2025

Good transparency

What you see is what you get. Rates, repayment, all laid out clean. No surprises.

img 5/5.0 21, Jan 2025

Plan early, stress less

Their early planning tips really reduced my stress. It?s all about starting early and they get that.

img 5/5.0 12, Jan 2025

Fast responses

Emailed them about refinancing and got back solid answers within a day. That?s rare these days.

img 1/5.0 01, Jan 2025

Slow and confusing process

The whole application was slow and confusing. I kept getting mixed info from different reps and the online portal didn?t help. It made me anxious and I almost gave up on using MEFA. They need better coordination.

img 4/5.0 23, Dec 2024

A bit outdated but useful

The tools and webinars MEFA offers are very informative. However, some of their site functions feel like they're from a few years ago. Still, what they lack in tech they make up for in expertise. They?ve been around a while and it shows in their advice.

img 5/5.0 12, Dec 2024

Awesome savings option

Got started on the U.Plan prepaid tuition and I liked knowing tuition won?t go up on me.

img 5/5.0 03, Dec 2024

Family-first vibe

MEFA doesn?t feel like a typical lender. They treat you more like you?re planning for your family?s future.

img 5/5.0 24, Nov 2024

Everything explained

Their videos break stuff down without all the jargon. Helped me decide on which loan term to choose.

img 1/5.0 13, Nov 2024

Confusing paperwork

The forms were complicated and the instructions weren?t clear. I had to ask for help multiple times and still wasn?t sure if I did everything right. It made me second guess using MEFA for future loans. Needs much clearer communication.

img 5/5.0 04, Nov 2024

Smooth experience

Applied for a MEFA loan for my daughter?s college tuition. No hitches at all. Happy so far.

img 5/5.0 26, Oct 2024

Great for new parents

As a new parent, their U.Fund 529 was easy to set up and makes me feel like I?m doing something right early.

img 5/5.0 15, Oct 2024

Reliable support

I?ve contacted them twice with questions about student loans and both times got detailed and polite help.

img 5/5.0 06, Oct 2024

Genuine people

The staff on the phone was polite and explained repayment stuff like I?m not an expert. That matters.

img 5/5.0 27, Sep 2024

Made me confident

I never understood financial aid before but MEFA resources gave me the confidence to apply and plan.

img 3/5.0 17, Sep 2024

Webinars too fast

I tried watching a few of MEFA's webinars but they moved kind of quick. It was a lot of info at once and hard to keep up. Maybe breaking them down into smaller topics would help. I still learned stuff, just needed to rewatch some parts.

img 5/5.0 09, Sep 2024

Not pushy at all

I called to ask about savings plans and they didn?t pressure me at all. Just explained options.

img 5/5.0 30, Aug 2024

Good fit for MA folks

Based in MA, but even as out-of-state family, we used their tools with no issues.

img 5/5.0 19, Aug 2024

Clear info on FAFSA

Their FAFSA guides helped me avoid mistakes I made last year. Step by step stuff actually makes a diff.

img 1/5.0 09, Aug 2024

Missed deadlines because of them

Because of delays and poor communication, I missed a key deadline to lock in my loan terms. It was really disappointing and stressful. I don?t think I can recommend MEFA after this experience.

img 5/5.0 31, Jul 2024

Professional webinars

I joined one of their virtual sessions and it was surprisingly helpful. Presenter answered all the real questions.

img 5/5.0 20, Jul 2024

Very informative

They put out a lot of free guidance, not just trying to sell you. That made me trust them more.

img 4/5.0 10, Jul 2024

Decent private loan

I didn?t know about MEFA until a friend recommended it. Their private student loan had no origination fee, which was a nice surprise. Approval took a few days, not instant, but it was fair. The interest rate was okay?not the lowest but not bad either.

img 5/5.0 01, Jul 2024

Easy refinance

I was able to refinance without any weird fees. The rates weren?t the lowest, but the process was honest.

img 5/5.0 22, Jun 2024

Everything in one place

They really have a lot in one spot?loans, webinars, savings plans, and personal help. Good experience.

img 5/5.0 13, Jun 2024

Parent-friendly tools

As a parent I used their college cost planner and it made things clearer. Didn't feel overwhelmed for once.

img 1/5.0 02, Jun 2024

Very slow approval

My loan approval took way too long. I waited weeks with no clear info and it delayed my college plans. I had to call multiple times and still didn?t get proper answers. The whole process felt very unorganized and stressful.

img 5/5.0 24, May 2024

Straightforward loan

The loan application process was simple and didn?t take much time. I had some questions but the site had FAQs that actually helped.

img 5/5.0 14, May 2024

Good track record

They?ve been around since 1982 and run by MA legislature. Gives me confidence that they?re legitimate and stable.

img 5/5.0 05, May 2024

Well?organized site

Site navigation is clean. Found tools, articles, webinars easy, though some pages load slow sometimes.

img 3/5.0 25, Apr 2024

Okay experience

I applied for a private loan through MEFA, and while the terms were fine, the process felt clunky. The upload portal didn?t work at first and I had to resend docs twice. Staff was polite though, just wish it was a smoother system.

img 5/5.0 17, Apr 2024

Reliable fixed rate

Fixed?rate refinance was exactly what I need. No variable stress.

img 5/5.0 06, Apr 2024

Easy appointments

Booked 1?on?1 appointment thru their site without hassle. Advisor answered all dumb questions patiently.

img 5/5.0 28, Mar 2024

Educational mission

Feels like not just lender but educator. They push resources before loan offers. That?s rare.

img 5/5.0 19, Mar 2024

Podcasts insight

Podcast episodes about scholarships were insightful. Good mix of data and stories.

img 4/5.0 08, Mar 2024

Well-organized but dense

Their planning webinars were well organized but packed with a lot of info at once. It?s good content, just wish they broke it down a bit slower. Still, I learned way more than I expected. They give families solid info, especially if you?re new to college planning.

img 5/5.0 28, Feb 2024

MA focus helpful

Even tho I?m not in MA, they still serve across US. But love that they have MA?specific programs too.

img 4/5.0 16, Feb 2024

Helpful but limited hours

Got solid advice from a MEFA advisor, but wish their support hours were longer. Hard to reach someone after work. The help I did get was detailed and not rushed, which I appreciated. Might use their loan services again when my younger son starts school.

img 5/5.0 15, Feb 2024

Timely info

Got emails about deadlines and updates that helped me stay on top of financial aid. Saved me from missing out.

img 5/5.0 07, Feb 2024

Transparent rates

Rates were transparent upfront. No bait?and?switch tricks. Appreciate the clarity even if rate was bit higher.

img 5/5.0 06, Feb 2024

Peace of mind

The U.Plan gives me peace knowing tuition won't go crazy. That security is big in today?s world.

img 5/5.0 29, Jan 2024

Quick refinance

Refinance moved fast?application to fund in weeks. Better than I expected.

img 5/5.0 27, Jan 2024

Great follow-up

After submitting a loan app, they followed up to confirm things and make sure I didn?t forget docs.

img 5/5.0 18, Jan 2024

One?stop shop

Found everything from savings to loans and guidance in one place. Feels less chaotic than searching multiple sites.

img 1/5.0 17, Jan 2024

No updates at all

I never got any updates during my loan processing. I had to chase them down to find out what was going on. It was very frustrating not knowing if my application was moving forward or stuck somewhere.

img 1/5.0 08, Jan 2024

Website kept crashing

The MEFA website was down several times while I was trying to apply. I lost my progress more than once and had to start over. It?s really annoying when you?re on a deadline. They need to fix this ASAP or customers will get fed up.

img 5/5.0 06, Jan 2024

Rates are decent

I compared a few lenders and MEFA?s rates were competitive. I liked that there were no added fees.

img 5/5.0 30, Dec 2023

Good for planners

If you?re proactive planner, they got loads of free resources. You gotta dig in, but it's there.

img 5/5.0 29, Dec 2023

All digital

I liked how the process was all digital. No paper forms or faxes. Just upload and done.

img 5/5.0 20, Dec 2023

Friendly reminders

They sent email reminders for FAFSA deadlines and webinars. Kept me from missing stuff.

img 5/5.0 18, Dec 2023

Great first impression

First time dealing with MEFA and the impression was good. Info was clear, staff helpful, and no stress.

img 5/5.0 11, Dec 2023

Useful calculators

Loan calculator showed different monthly costs fast. Helps comparing repayment term easily.

img 5/5.0 09, Dec 2023

Nothing hidden

There was nothing hidden in the loan terms. Everything was up front and clear. Makes it easier to trust.

img 3/5.0 02, Dec 2023

Informative but slow

The info MEFA gives is great, but getting responses to emails took longer than I expected. I was hoping for quicker help with some loan questions. Still got what I needed eventually, just not super efficient. They really could use a live chat or faster followup.

img 2/5.0 30, Nov 2023

Frustrating process

The application took way longer than I expected and kept asking for documents multiple times. Customer service was polite but slow to respond. It felt like the system wasn?t well organized and I had to follow up a lot just to get updates. Not very smooth.

img 5/5.0 21, Nov 2023

Counselor support

My school counselor used their MEFA Institute training. Felt more confident advising students this year.

img 5/5.0 19, Nov 2023

Love the resources

Their checklists and timelines made organizing our college plan a lot easier. Wish more places did that.

img 5/5.0 10, Nov 2023

Flexible terms

Got multiple repayment options for my grad loan. Chose interest?only till job stable?helped a lot.

img 5/5.0 09, Nov 2023

Support was kind

When I was stressed about forms, the staff was super kind and helped me slow down and understand.

img 5/5.0 01, Nov 2023

Helpful podcasts

Listened to their planning podcast. Hosts were honest about pros and cons, not sugar?coating.

img 3/5.0 31, Oct 2023

Support hard to reach

Tried calling for help during the refinance process but kept getting voicemail. Finally got through after a day or so. Once I spoke to someone, they were helpful, just hard to reach at first. Not terrible, but they need more reliable customer service hours.

img 4/5.0 23, Oct 2023

Good experience overall

We took a MEFA loan for our daughter?s college. Application was straightforward, though there were a few glitches on the upload portal. Still, their support team helped quickly. Monthly payments are predictable, which I really like. Would recommend but they could upgrade their site experience.

img 5/5.0 21, Oct 2023

Works for long term

U.Fund is something I?ve had since my kids were toddlers. Easy to manage and great tax benefits.

img 5/5.0 12, Oct 2023

No fee was nice

Zero origination or application fees saved me some cash. Other lenders suck with hidden charges.

img 5/5.0 11, Oct 2023

Feels trustworthy

With state backing and no pressure sales, it just felt more trustworthy. I?m glad we went with them.

img 5/5.0 03, Oct 2023

State trusted

Feels legit cause it?s run by state. Been around since 1982 so I trust them more than random lenders.

img 5/5.0 01, Oct 2023

Very responsive

Emailed support and they got back to me same day. Answered everything, even the small stuff.

img 5/5.0 25, Sep 2023

Immediate decision

Applied for their private student loan, got instant decision when application complete. Less waiting than expected.

img 4/5.0 23, Sep 2023

Good for planners

If you're someone who likes to plan early, MEFA is worth looking into. I set up both U.Plan and U.Fund for my two kids. It took some reading to understand the difference between them, but now I feel a lot more in control of college costs.

img 4/5.0 14, Sep 2023

Lots of information

MEFA offers a ton of guidance about financial aid and planning. I joined two webinars and both had useful insights. Sometimes felt a little info-heavy, but better too much than too little. I?ve bookmarked a few of their guides to come back to later on.

img 5/5.0 13, Sep 2023

Webinars are gold

Every webinar I joined had helpful, clear info. I even watched a few again later to catch more tips.

img 5/5.0 04, Sep 2023

Disability savings

Opened Attainable account for my younger brother who has special needs. Glad they included that option. It?s thoughtful.

img 5/5.0 03, Sep 2023

Real guidance

Talked to someone who walked me through all options. Not just MEFA ones. That meant a lot to me.

img 5/5.0 27, Aug 2023

Missed something

I missed some webinar recordings but their resource archive is good so caught up later. Articles also well written but had few typos.

img 4/5.0 24, Aug 2023

Loan terms are flexible

I liked that MEFA had a few repayment choices. I went with interest-only while I got settled in my first job. Took a bit to understand how it all works, but their reps explained it clearly. The paperwork could be less confusing, though.

img 4/5.0 17, Aug 2023

Good 529 option

I started a 529 U.Fund account for my daughter. Setup was pretty quick, though the website felt dated in places. Still, the tax benefits are solid and I like how you can contribute online anytime. Wish it had a mobile app or something easier on the go.

img 5/5.0 14, Aug 2023

Focused on education

They?re more focused on educating families than just selling you loans. I noticed the difference.

img 5/5.0 06, Aug 2023

U.Plan peace

Locked on prepaid tuition with U.Plan ? knowing tuition won?t balloon is such relief. Few clicks, good peace of mind.

img 2/5.0 04, Aug 2023

Outdated website issues

Their website was really hard to navigate and some pages wouldn?t load properly. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to upload my forms. They should seriously update the site cause it felt frustrating and made the whole loan process more stressful than needed.

img 5/5.0 26, Jul 2023

Stable repayment

Fixed?rate plan gives me peace?no surprises. Monthly payments steady. Life?s less stressful that way.

img 5/5.0 24, Jul 2023

Great student loan

Took out a MEFA student loan and had no issues. Good interest rate and no origination fee.

img 2/5.0 15, Jul 2023

Support was lacking

When I needed help with refinancing questions, I found it hard to reach anyone. The phone often went to voicemail and emails took days to get answered. I got some info eventually but felt like I was left hanging for too long. Needs better support.

img 5/5.0 12, Jul 2023

Stress-free

MEFA made college financial planning way less stressful. It felt more manageable after using their tools.

img 5/5.0 05, Jul 2023

Friendly staff

Had a one?on?one with college plan expert over zoom. They listened and gave real actionable steps. Not pushy, just helpful.

img 5/5.0 04, Jul 2023

Well explained info

Their documents are plain-English, which helped me a lot. I don?t always get finance talk, but this was clear.

img 1/5.0 27, Jun 2023

Poor communication

I tried to get updates on my loan status but nobody returned my calls or emails. I felt ignored and frustrated. It took weeks just to get a simple answer. This kind of customer service is unacceptable, especially when dealing with important financial stuff.

img 1/5.0 25, Jun 2023

Fees not clearly explained

I found out about some fees only after signing the loan agreement. It felt like they hid that info or didn?t explain it well. I don?t like surprises like that especially on financial contracts. It left a bad taste.

img 5/5.0 17, Jun 2023

Refinance win

Refinanced my old student dept with them?rate dropped by a few % points. No prepayment penalty was huge plus.

img 5/5.0 14, Jun 2023

Quick process

Got through the loan app process faster than expected. No delays or weird steps. Just worked.

img 5/5.0 08, Jun 2023

Webinar saved me

Attended their FAFSA 101 webinar and finally understood complicated stuff. Presenter was patient with dumb questions lol.

img 5/5.0 04, Jun 2023

Customer-first feeling

The way they responded to my emails made me feel like they care more about families than just numbers.

img 5/5.0 30, May 2023

Solid loan option

Took a look at their fixed?rate undergrad loan. No origination fee was refreshing and rate seems reasonable. Application decision was quick too.

img 5/5.0 24, May 2023

Worked for our family

Used MEFA for both savings and a student loan. Happy with how it all worked out. No complaints.

img 4/5.0 19, May 2023

Refinancing went smooth

I refinanced a private student loan through MEFA and the process was mostly smooth. It took a bit longer than I thought, but customer support stayed responsive. Rate was decent and no fees made it attractive. Overall, I?d say it was a smart move.

img 3/5.0 13, May 2023

Good effort, dated site

I like that MEFA tries to provide solid resources, but their website feels old and slow. Some links didn?t load properly and the layout is kinda cluttered. I eventually found what I needed, but not without some frustration along the way.

img 5/5.0 07, May 2023

529 plan ding

Started the U.Fund 529 thru MEFA for my niece. Love that it works for schools anywhere, not just MA. Tax savings is nice?ish touch.

img 5/5.0 03, May 2023

No pressure loan talk

Didn?t feel pressured when asking about loans. They just laid out the facts and let me choose.

img 4/5.0 28, Apr 2023

Solid help with FAFSA

The webinar they did on FAFSA helped me understand what forms were needed. Still a bit overwhelming overall, but their breakdown was super useful. I did wish they had more follow-up examples, but it was definitely worth the time. Their site has good resources too.

img 5/5.0 20, Apr 2023

Straight answers

Called them with a few questions and got honest, straight answers. Felt like they actually listened.

img 5/5.0 15, Apr 2023

Helpful calculators

Their loan and savings calculators helped me plan budgets better. I messed up some input at first but support was chill walking me thru it.

img 5/5.0 06, Apr 2023

Helpful videos

The short videos on their site helped me understand my options better than most articles I read.

img 5/5.0 02, Apr 2023

Clear guidance

Wanted help with FAFSA and college savings. MEFA?s webinars and tools made it easy. I kinda dropped a question in chat and got helpful, real?world advice. Feels like someone knows what they?re doing.
