Delayed and Damaged

The website photos made the coffees look amazing and the descriptions enticing, so I was really looking forward to trying a new single-origin sampler pack. It turned out to be over a week late, however. I understand that sometimes things take longer when shipping them, but the lack of communication was pretty frustrating. When the package did arrive, one of the bags had been torn with coffee beans spilling all over the place. Thankfully, the other bags were okay, but it was too late to have coffee with friends as planned. I immediately contacted customer service and described the situation while attaching photos of the damage. So far, I haven't received a response. This experience has been very disappointing.

Burnt and Bitter

I love dark roasts, so I thought to give this company's French Roast a shot. The online description promised rich, chocolatey notes, which sounded perfect. However, the coffee I received had a distinctly burnt and bitter taste. It was undrinkable. I tried brewing it several different ways, adjusting the grind size and water temperature, but the bitterness persisted. It tasted nothing like the rich, chocolatey notes described on the website. It was a complete waste of money, and I had to discard the whole bag. I am really disappointed by the quality for the price.

Inconsistent Quality

I have ordered from this company several times in the past, and I was generally satisfied with their coffee. That is why I decided to subscribe to their monthly delivery service. However, this last batch of beans was quite different. The roast was not uniform, and there were beans much lighter than others. This makes the brewed coffee taste quite uneven. Grinds Too Coarse

I ordered pre-ground coffee because I don't have a grinder at home. I specifically selected a medium grind, as that's what works best with my drip coffee maker. I had to waste money buying some terrible grinder so I could just re-grind the coffee myself to get a good grind. Even though it was a coffee that I order medium grind size, there seemed to be big chunks in my bag, although finer grounds scattered about. One can't find consistency in extracting a brew properly due to improper grind size uniformity. Where some parts in the coffee result in over extraction, others produce under-extracting, providing a muddy brew and uneven tastes. I lost precious time screening out the different grounds to obtain rid of a big chunk sizes.
