Not Ideal for Non-Standard Homes

I live in a slightly older home, and Cove?s sensors didn?t fit well on some of the door frames and windows. The adhesive pads wouldn?t stick properly on textured surfaces, and the alignment wasn?t always possible because of how things are built here. I ended up having to use extra tape and even small brackets to keep things in place. That took away from the whole ?easy install? appeal. Also, one of the motion sensors gave a false reading the first night, which made me question the reliability. I called support and they were helpful, but there?s only so much they can do when the physical product doesn?t match every home layout. If you live in a newer or more uniform space, I can see this working better. But for those in older houses or apartments, it?s not always a perfect fit.

Return Process Was a Hassle

I ended up returning my Cove system after two weeks. While the product itself seemed decent, it just didn?t meet my expectations. The setup was easy, but the sensors didn?t fit properly on a couple of older window frames in my apartment, and the sticky pads wouldn?t hold for long. What really frustrated me was the return process. It wasn?t as smooth as they make it sound online. I had to call customer support twice just to get a return label, and then I had to wait for approval. They asked a lot of questions and made me feel like I was doing something wrong for wanting to return it. The refund also took almost three weeks to process. I wish the return policy was more straightforward and less of a hassle. The system might work better for others, but my experience wasn?t what I hoped for.

Even small things like custom arming schedules or more flexible alert options would be helpful. It still works, but it?s starting to feel outdated compared to newer systems coming out. It?s okay if you want something basic and stable, but if you?re looking for a more future-ready system, you might feel a bit stuck. I haven?t had any major failures or security problems, which is great, but I wish they were innovating more. I?ll probably stick with it another few months before I decide whether to upgrade or switch.

Camera Lags and No Local Backup

The biggest issue I?ve had with Cove is the camera lag. When I try to view the live feed, it takes too long to load, and sometimes it doesn?t even connect. That?s a big problem when you?re trying to check in quickly on your home. Also, there?s no option for local storage. Everything is cloud-based, and the cloud service costs extra. I would?ve liked a backup plan that doesn?t rely entirely on Wi-Fi or the app. If your internet drops, you lose access to monitoring completely. I feel like security systems should have a failsafe, especially in case of outages. I contacted support about the lag, and while they acknowledged the issue, they didn?t offer much in terms of fixing it. I?m sticking with it for now, but I don?t feel as confident in this system as I should. A few improvements would go a long way.
