Wonderful Afternoon Outing

Castle Glen Wine provided one of the best winery visits we've experienced in Virginia. Easy to find just minutes from Kings Dominion, the boutique atmosphere is tranquil and welcoming. We enjoyed how family- and pet-friendly it was, with lots of space for the children and room for our dog to relax in comfort. The wines were great ? especially the reds, which were deep and layered without being overwhelming. The tasting room staff was friendly and eager to provide information about each wine, so the experience was both educational and enjoyable. We spent the afternoon lounging on the patio, drinking wine, and taking in the lovely views. The atmosphere is casual but carefully curated, so it's easy to linger for hours. We will definitely return for a second visit and will be taking friends with us to experience this tiny gem of a winery.

Beautiful, Relaxing Experience

We enjoyed our visit to Castle Glen Wine. It's a relaxing atmosphere, and the people are extremely friendly. We really enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Viognier. The patio area with the lovely views made it the perfect spot to relax. It's wonderful that it's dog-friendly, too!

Great Afternoon Escape

Castle Glen Wine was the ideal weekend getaway. Just a short drive from the Kings Dominion crowds, the winery provided a serene atmosphere with tasty wines and welcoming service. The tasting room is intimate without being too small, and the patio seating area is roomy and pet-friendly. We particularly liked the chat with the informative staff, who explained the winemaking process. Their offerings had something for everyone, including crisp whites and full-bodied reds. We took some home with us in a few bottles and will most certainly go back soon for a leisurely day.

Enjoyable Afternoon at the Winery

Castle Glen Wine provided a great afternoon getaway. The atmosphere is lovely, with the calm, countryside ambiance that will have you not wanting to struggle. We got to try various wines, every one of them carefully crafted, although the reds were most impressive for our taste. Friendly and helpful but not overpowering, the people in the tasting room knew their stuff but remained unobtrusive. Friendly to canines, which also made it perfectly fine to take our hound with us. It's a tiny but lovely boutique winery that presents an authentic, one-on-one experience. We departed with grins ? and bottles for subsequent!

Uninspiring Visit

I didn?t find Castle Glen Wine to be as impressive as others have said. While the vineyard itself is beautiful, the wine didn?t stand out for me, and the service felt lackluster. It wasn?t a bad experience, but it didn?t leave a lasting impression.

Beautiful Grounds and Smooth Reds

We found Castle Glen Wine on a weekend getaway through Virginia wine country, and it was a great spot. The property is beautiful with green lawns, a nice selection of wines in the tasting room, and lots of room for families and pets. We enjoyed how casual and friendly the whole environment was without any pretension. The wine tasting had a great selection, and I particularly loved the smooth reds ? the Cabernet Franc and Merlot were especially tasty. Although I wasn't as thrilled with the whites, the overall experience well compensated for it. The staff was knowledgeable but not pushy, providing excellent insights and pairing recommendations. We spent the afternoon relaxing on the patio, taking in the views and enjoying a peaceful moment away from the city. Castle Glen Wine is definitely a spot we?d recommend to others exploring the area.

Wines Fell Short

A Lovely Escape

Castle Glen Wine provides such a serene getaway just a few minutes away from Kings Dominion. The environment is lovely, with a lovely outdoor patio that is ideal for wine sipping while the kids and dogs have fun in the open area. We sampled various tastings, and every wine was impressive. The staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable, and they answered all our questions carefully. Highly recommend a visit if you are around!

Beautiful Winery and Great Service

We visited Castle Glen Wine after a day at Kings Dominion, and it was the best way to relax. The property is beautiful, with a beautiful tasting room and lots of outdoor seating. We enjoyed how family- and dog-friendly the venue was ? it made it simple for everyone to have a good time. The tasting was enjoyable and informative, with staff members taking us through each wine and suggesting pairings. Some of the wines were too strong for my own taste, but others, such as the Chardonnay and ros?, were excellent. We enjoyed the friendly, no-pressure environment; we never felt rushed or pressured to purchase. We left with a couple of bottles and wonderful memories of the afternoon. This is definitely a spot we?ll recommend to friends traveling through the area, especially those looking for something authentic and peaceful away from the usual tourist spots.

Perfect Spot for Wine and Relaxation

Castle Glen Wine surpassed our expectations in our recent visit. The moment we stepped in, the warmth and hospitality we received were real, setting the stage for an excellent afternoon. Excellent Local Winery

A True Virginia Treasure

Castle Glen Wine has turned out to be one of our absolute go-to places in Virginia. Close to Kings Dominion, this small winery is a short drive away and gives you an experience that's both intimate and unforgettable. We were amazed at the quality of their wines, particularly the Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay, which were expertly balanced. What Castle Glen does differently is the ambience ? relaxed, friendly, and family-oriented. Our children had room to run around, and even our dog was given the family treatment. The staff was well-informed and was more than willing to explain their winemaking process. We lingered for hours, drinking on the patio and soaking up the serene atmosphere. It is not often that a winery can provide both quality products and an accepting atmosphere, but Castle Glen succeeds effortlessly at both. We can?t wait to return and bring more friends along next time.

Fantastic Wines, Great Hospitality

Castle Glen Wine surprised us both with its incredible wines and with its friendly hospitality. The employees went out of their way to make us feel at home, providing a thoughtful tasting experience that didn't seem hurried. We appreciated everything from the dry reds to the fruitier wines. The outdoor patio was the ideal place to sit back and unwind, and we appreciated the fact that our dog was invited, too. This small winery is a charmer and has an authentic feel to it. Not Worth the Drive

We took a special trip to go see Castle Glen Wine, but it wasn't worth the trip. The wines were mediocre at best, and the tasting was rushed. Although the location itself is lovely, the star of the show ? the wine ? didn't provide the quality or experience we were looking for on this trip.

A True Local Favorite

Castle Glen Wine is fast becoming one of our go-to local wineries. A quick drive from Kings Dominion, it provides a serene and scenic getaway that's worlds away from the hectic theme park environment. The tasting flight was diverse and stunning, with each wine having its own distinct personality. We enjoyed the Cabernet Franc and the off-dry white mix best of all, and these were well-suited to go along with our brought-along snacks. It is the welcoming, friendly atmosphere that sets Castle Glen apart, however. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to spread the word about their craft. We enjoyed the dog-and-family-friendly arrangement that made it simple to unwind without a care. We actually signed up for their wine club so we can continue to enjoy their wines even when we're not there. If you want an authentic and warm winery experience, Castle Glen Wine is the place to go.

Castle Glen Wine is a true hidden gem that lies just a short drive from Kings Dominion. It provides a peaceful, stunning refuge, making it the perfect stop after a day of theme park excitement. Being family- and dog-friendly was just icing on the cake, enabling us to take our children and dog with us without worrying about not fitting in. We spent hours there, enjoying the views, sipping wine, and chatting with the friendly staff. We?re already planning our next visit and can?t recommend Castle Glen Wine enough!

Fantastic Family Winery Visit

Castle Glen Wine was more packed than I anticipated, given that it is a boutique winery. The wine itself was good but nothing spectacular. Memorable Wine Tasting Day

Castle Glen Wine provided us with one of the most enjoyable wine tasting experiences we've ever experienced. Just a few minutes from Kings Dominion, it's like a tranquil escape amidst nature. We were surprised at how hospitable the atmosphere was, with a family- and pet-friendly environment that welcomed everyone. The wine flight was carefully prepared, with an excellent mix of whites, reds, and ros?s. Every wine had its own particular character, but we particularly adored the Cabernet Franc ? silky and refined. The people working there were friendly and informative, eager to tell us about the history of the winery and provide suggestions for pairings. We spent hours lounging in the outdoor patio, basking in the sun and incredible views. It's not common to come across a winery that produces great products and also has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We?re already looking forward to our next visit and plan to bring friends along.

Warm Atmosphere, Lovely Wines

We just happened by Castle Glen Wine one day and were surprised at how welcoming and warm the environment was. The tasting itself was professionally run, and the staff had time to go through each of the wines without being overwhelming. The whites were crisp and refreshing, and the reds were smooth and full-bodied. It's dog-friendly, too, which made it all the more charming. We enjoyed sitting outside under the trees, wine in hand, taking in the view. Castle Glen Wine has all you'd hope for from a boutique winery: lovely views, good wine, and a casual, family-oriented atmosphere. We visited on a whim after a day at Kings Dominion and stayed for hours. The tasting menu had a great selection, ranging from full-bodied reds to light whites, and the staff explained each choice with passion and expertise. Review by Yelp Reviewer. We loved how kid- and pet-friendly the winery was, making all of us feel comfortable. There was ample space on the patio to spread out and soak up the sun, and the surrounding view was beautiful. Our trip to Castle Glen Wine was a highlight of our weekend retreat. Hidden away just minutes from Kings Dominion, the winery provides a serene refuge from the crowded tourist destinations nearby. Great Spot for Families

The Castle Glen Wine grounds are very nice and make it a great place to unwind. Yet, the wines themselves were pretty middle-of-the-road, and the tasting wasn't very in-depth. Relaxed Atmosphere and Tasty Wines

We spent our time with Castle Glen Wine having a delightful, laid-back experience. Strategically located in mere minutes of Kings Dominion, the winery features a scenic rural landscape along with a homey tasting area and large outside seating area. We appreciated having a taste of their wines, particularly the ros? and the Viognier, which were crisp, light, and ideally suited for a sunny day. The staff at the winery was welcoming and very knowledgeable with fantastic information given without being imposing. The highlight was the relaxed environment, where couples, families, and even pets were all able to share the space together. Although we wished there were a bit more food available, we were content to bring our own snacks and relax for a long, lazy afternoon. Castle Glen Wine is a great visit if you're in the market for a relaxed yet quality wine tasting experience in Virginia. We hope to come back soon.

Great Spot, Could Use More Food Options

Castle Glen Wine is a lovely winery with great wine. We especially loved the Cabernet Franc. The patio seating is lovely, but I feel like the winery could do a better job of providing more food choices. It's still a great place to go, but having a little food menu would be great.
