The Brew in a Bag system does have its advantages, but there are also some snags that I experienced. The bag appears to be rugged, yet I have had issues with only a few brews. Fraying around the seams is noticed in a minor manner. A mash temperature for the brew, however, tends to be unstable while using the system. I had to constantly adjust the heat, which made the process more tedious than I had anticipated. Cleaning up was generally easy, but the bag was tricky because spent grains tend to get stuck and require thorough rinsing.

Temperature Control Challenges
This system has caused problems with trying to maintain a consistent mash temperature. The kettle is not particularly good at retaining heat, so I was running the burner fairly continuously. Consistency in these situations can definitely be a real killer for both my mash efficiency and my beers overall quality. Though the method is supposed to be easier in itself, maintaining temperatures was way more complicated than I had hoped for.
