Missed opportunity to educate
Expected a fun, informative class, but the session felt like a missed opportunity. The instructor was passionate but lacked teaching structure. There were long pauses, filler stories, and not much valuable info. Tasting notes were general and repetitive. The group seemed confused, and there wasn?t much effort to clarify or create a flow. The platform also had lag issues. Left wishing it had been more thoughtfully planned.

Relaxed yet informative session
The session struck a great balance between being educational and enjoyable. It didn?t feel overwhelming, even for someone like me who?s still getting into wine. The instructor walked us through tasting steps, explaining what to look for and how to describe it. We covered several varietals, with info about their origins and how the environment affects flavor. There were tips on food pairings too, which made the whole experience feel practical. The group was small enough for questions to be answered, and everyone felt welcome. I especially appreciated how mistakes or questions were handled with patience and clarity. There were a few minor tech issues early on, but they didn?t affect the overall flow. If you?re looking for a relaxed introduction to wine that still leaves you feeling smarter, this is a great place to start. Definitely recommend for a casual night in or learning with friends.

Lovely virtual tasting experience
A beautifully organized virtual wine tasting with SommSchool. The host guided us through four wines, encouraged group descriptions, clarified differences in terroir and grape varietals. Conversation was lively and supportive. Great pace. Came away feeling more confident to buy and enjoy wine. Perfect for a date?night or group activity.

Not engaging enough
There wasn?t much participant interaction during the session. Most of the time, it felt like we were just listening to someone talk without any real involvement. No breakout rooms or activities. I was hoping for a more hands-on and lively experience. It felt more like a webinar than a wine class.

Great learning without pressure

Bad audio and pacing
Audio kept cutting in and out, which made the whole experience really frustrating. Pacing was also off?some parts were rushed, others dragged. There wasn?t much energy or engagement from the host. Left early because I couldn?t follow most of what was being said.

Felt like an amateur Zoom call
This wasn?t a class?it felt like someone just turned on Zoom and started talking about their favorite wines. There was no clear structure, and the ?slides? were just a few grainy images. The instructor didn?t offer much depth. Questions were dodged, and when someone asked about a specific vintage, the response was vague and unhelpful. The tasting portion felt chaotic?no pacing or guidance. The wines we bought didn?t match what was discussed, which made the experience even more confusing. The vibe was overly casual in a way that made it feel less professional. For a course advertised as ?somm-led,? I expected more structure and expertise. Honestly felt misled and disappointed.

Great class with real value
This was more than just a wine tasting?it was an experience. From the welcome to the final toast, everything was well-paced and interactive. The instructor didn?t just talk at us?he guided us through tasting, asking us what we noticed and helping shape the language. We explored several wine regions, grape types, and learned what to expect in flavor and structure. There were useful tips on serving wine, how long to let it breathe, and pairing ideas that weren?t too fancy. The vibe was friendly and inclusive. Everyone, regardless of their knowledge level, felt like they belonged. It was clear that a lot of effort went into planning the session. They even sent out a tasting sheet and regional map beforehand. After the session, I started choosing wines with more intention. It?s made a noticeable difference in how I enjoy wine now. Really impressed.

Underwhelming and poorly managed
The class lacked organization. Emails with class links arrived late, and there was confusion about wine selections beforehand. I had to scramble to find substitutes. The presentation itself wasn?t very engaging, and the instructor sounded distracted throughout. There wasn?t enough guidance for beginners either. No real breakdown of tasting steps, and no handout or reference material. We were just expected to follow along without any visual support. Questions in the chat were mostly ignored. I paid extra expecting something more interactive and structured. Instead, it felt like a loose hangout with someone who knows a bit about wine but didn?t prepare. Some of the other participants had similar issues and were visibly frustrated. While the idea behind SommSchool is great, this execution fell way short of the mark. Wouldn?t sign up again based on this experience.

Educational and relaxed
Attended a SommSchool class on French varietals and came away genuinely more confident in tasting and choosing wine. The instructor walked us through characteristics of each bottle, including history, origin, and how to pair them with food. Great intro with helpful tips
Took the introductory session and was impressed with how much ground we covered without it feeling overwhelming. The instructor gave us a breakdown of tasting steps, common wine faults, and even explained why decanting matters. There was also a segment on wine labels that I found particularly helpful. I never realized how much information is hidden in plain sight! The group was diverse, and people from all over joined, which made for a fun chat. Nice intro, could use more depth

Fun and social learning
Signed up for this class with a friend and ended up really enjoying the session. It had just the right amount of content without going too deep for casual drinkers. The instructor had a way of making wine talk feel down-to-earth. We explored a few different types of wine and practiced tasting together, describing aromas and flavors. The group atmosphere helped?it felt more like a guided conversation than a class. There were some really helpful tips on storing wine, food pairings, and even how to tell if a wine has gone bad. The best part was being able to ask questions and not feel judged. It wasn?t perfect?some slides were a bit slow to load?but overall, it was a really enjoyable evening. I?ll be checking out another class soon. A fun way to learn something new and hang out virtually.

Not worth the cost
Paid a premium for a class that didn?t deliver. The wine kit arrived late and missing two bottles. No backup plan or apology, just an email with ?hope you can still join.? The host was friendly but underprepared. Content was basic and often repeated. We were told we?d learn about regions and history, but instead spent most of the time hearing generic tasting terms. Others in the group voiced frustration in the chat. The platform also lagged throughout, and it was hard to stay engaged. For the price, I expected resources, guides, maybe a recording or follow-up notes?but there was nothing. Left with unanswered questions and the feeling that this is more about selling the idea of wine education than actually delivering it.

Fun way to learn wine basics
This was my first wine class and it was a pleasant surprise. The content was clearly laid out, and the instructor explained tasting steps without sounding overly technical. Fun and useful for all levels
Whether you're a total beginner or already know a bit about wine, SommSchool delivers a solid experience. The class I took covered New World vs Old World wines and included helpful visuals. The instructor was personable and clearly knew his stuff. We tasted side-by-side and shared notes with others in the group. Everyone felt heard and included. Great evening activity.

Too fast, no depth
Signed up expecting a deep dive into wine tasting and origins, but the class felt rushed and overly basic. The instructor skipped over key details, and there was barely any time for questions. The pace didn?t allow enough time to appreciate each wine. Felt more like a slideshow presentation than an immersive experience. Also, there were tech issues?audio kept cutting, which made it harder to follow. Several participants complained in the chat, but nothing was done about it. The wine descriptions were vague, and any discussion around food pairing was surface level. I was hoping to learn about nuances between similar varietals or regional expressions, but we barely scratched the surface. Definitely not what I expected from a platform that brands itself as a wine education space. Ended the class feeling more confused than when I started.

Confusing delivery
The instructor had knowledge, but the delivery was hard to follow. They jumped between topics and didn?t stick to a plan. Fantastic learning experience
The SommSchool wine class was beyond expectations. The instructor had a way of making even the complex parts of wine tasting easy to grasp. Loved the flow of the session

Poor communication and support
Signed up for a class and never got the full wine list. Reached out twice to customer service and got no reply. Managed to join anyway, but the instructor didn?t reference the wines properly, so it was hard to follow. Audio was muffled, and the whole session lacked flow. Felt unsupported and left with more questions than answers.

Informative and enjoyable night in
Booked this for a date night at home and had a fantastic time. We received a list of wines to grab ahead of time, and the host made the class very approachable. He gave practical tasting tips, explained wine regions, and encouraged participation. The pacing worked well?even my partner, who?s not usually into wine, got into it. I walked away with a better nose and a clearer understanding of what I like. The relaxed but structured format made it feel like more than just a casual wine tasting. Friendly and enlightening

Let down by logistics

Very helpful for beginners
Having zero wine knowledge didn?t matter here. The class was beginner-friendly and avoided complex lingo. We tasted a few different types and learned how to assess them properly. Fun & informative session
Enjoyed a live Zoom wine class from SommSchool. The pace was smooth, explanations were clear, and group size allowed good interaction. Wine kit arrived late
The wine kit came after the class, which completely ruined the experience. I had to watch others taste while I took notes. Support didn?t respond to my emails either. The class itself was okay but not great without the actual wines. Felt like I paid for something I couldn?t fully participate in.

Solid class, some minor issues
The class itself was enjoyable, and the content was relevant and easy to understand. We went over tasting techniques, key varietals, and some wine history. The instructor was friendly and clear. That said, a couple of the wines listed weren?t available in my area, so I had to guess on substitutes. Would be nice if they provided more accessible alternatives. Still, the overall vibe was pleasant, and I learned new terms that I now use when describing wine. The materials could have been better organized, but for the price, I felt it was still a good experience.

Great for learning together
Joined with friends for a virtual class and it was a great experience. We learned about Bordeaux, Burgundy and Tempranillo, along with food pairings. The facilitator created a welcoming atmosphere, welcomed questions and shared tasting notes. Easy to follow and left us eager to explore more wines with better confidence.

Engaging from start to finish
The SommSchool virtual class was surprisingly engaging and well-paced. The instructor had a relaxed way of explaining even complex wine topics, making it easy to follow along. Worth the experience

Not beginner-friendly
As someone new to wine, I felt completely lost. The instructor used a lot of jargon without explaining terms like ?legs? or ?mouthfeel.? There were no slides or visual aids to help. Made wine accessible and fun
Never thought I?d enjoy a Zoom class this much. SommSchool made wine accessible without watering it down. The instructor had stories, facts, and jokes that kept things moving. We weren?t just listening?we were tasting, discussing, and learning with others. The visual slides helped tie it together, and we got a solid walkthrough on tasting technique. I never knew how much goes into the process?from the soil to the glass. The wines we tried came with thoughtful notes and regional info. The pace was just right?didn?t feel rushed or too slow. It was more than just sipping wine?it was learning to appreciate it. I feel more confident now picking bottles and reading labels. Would absolutely do another session, maybe on sparkling wines next time. Great for beginners, but even my friend who works at a wine shop enjoyed it. Super well done.

Disorganised from the start
The moment I signed up, things felt off. The confirmation email had a broken link, and I didn?t get the full wine list until the night before. The class began late and felt unstructured. The host seemed flustered, flipping through notes and stumbling over terms. It?s one thing to have a casual vibe, but it was borderline unprofessional. The wine selection didn?t match the tasting notes we were given, and there was minimal instruction on how to actually taste wine. The Zoom chat was flooded with confused messages, most of which went unanswered. I expected a curated, well-paced session but left feeling like I?d wasted my evening and money. It felt like a last-minute presentation rather than a prepared course. Tech issues and poor pacing made things worse. Nothing about it made me feel like I learned anything new or valuable about wine.

Very little value

Confusing and not interactive
The idea sounded promising, but execution left much to be desired. There wasn?t much structure to the presentation, and the instructor jumped between topics without clarity. We barely spent time on how to actually taste the wine, and food pairings were mentioned briefly without any context. It also wasn?t very interactive. There was little effort to engage participants or create a group dynamic. Many people just stayed muted the entire time, and it felt more like a YouTube video than a class. Also, the promised wine guide wasn?t sent out. When I emailed, I got no response. For something that markets itself as a fun, educational wine experience, this missed the mark entirely. Wouldn?t recommend it based on what I experienced.

Best wine class I?ve taken
This was easily the best wine class I?ve attended virtually. The balance between education and casual engagement was spot on. It wasn?t just sipping and chatting?we learned how to identify acidity, body, and finish, and explored flavor profiles through comparison. Excellent virtual wine class
