    Not Worth the Price Paid

    Expected something special from ElkUSA based on their branding and variety of products, but the reality was far from premium. Ordered several meats, including elk steak and bison sausage. The elk had a strong, off-putting smell even before cooking and was extremely chewy. The bison sausage had a greasy texture and a strange chemical-like taste. Both items ended up in the trash. Tried to reach out for a refund or at least feedback, but got no meaningful response. Their support team simply said meat quality can vary and offered no solution. When you're spending this much on meat, quality control and accountability should be a given. The shipping was quick, but what?s the point if the product quality can?t be trusted? Overall, a poor value and not something I?ll take a risk on again. There are better vendors out there with more consistent products and responsive service.

    The elk sausages were great and possessed a nice snap to the casing. Not greasy, and therefore well-suited to grilling. Tasted really good with mustard and sauerkraut. Arrived on time, and nothing was harmed or thawed. Nice break from the same old meats that can be found in local markets.

    The meat that was delivered did not meet the expectations from the descriptions on the website. Attempted to reach out to support regarding the same, and though they did get back, it came across as a standard response rather than a customer experience-driven concern.     Poor Communication on Delays

    Ordered a variety pack that included elk, buffalo, and wild boar. The order was delayed without any notification or update from ElkUSA. Reached out to ask about the status, and it took four days to get a response. When the meat finally arrived, it was semi-thawed, which was concerning. The elk had a strong gamey odor, and the buffalo sausages were overly fatty. The inconsistency between what?s promised online and what?s delivered makes it hard to trust the brand. No clear communication, no compensation for the delay or compromised condition of the product. If you're shipping perishable goods, especially at premium prices, there should be a higher standard for logistics and customer support. While the idea of having specialty meats delivered is great, the execution here left much to be desired. Until these issues are resolved, it?s hard to justify ordering from them again.

Also observed that some of the expiration dates were difficult to read, which created doubts about how fresh the stock is. Tried contacting to inquire about sourcing and processing, but never received a detailed response.     Mediocre Sausages, Poor Service

    Decided to try several varieties of sausage including wild boar, bison, and elk. None stood out, and most had a greasy texture and a bland taste. The seasoning didn?t come through, and the texture was more like a generic store-brand sausage than a gourmet product. Also had issues with one package being partially open when it arrived. Contacted support but was met with very little effort to resolve the problem. They said to discard the package and didn?t offer anything further. That kind of dismissive attitude is frustrating, especially when you?re spending good money on a product that?s marketed as high-end. The whole experience ? from packaging to quality to customer care ? fell short. There?s definitely a market for wild game meats, but it requires better execution than this. Not inclined to take another chance after this underwhelming experience. Better luck with smaller local providers.

    Uneven Meat Quality Across Orders

    Ordered two batches a few weeks apart, and the inconsistency was quite apparent. The initial elk and bison cuts batch was fine ? not great, but fine for the price. The second batch, though, was a letdown. The elk meat smelled off and had a grainy texture. Cooking it didn't help; the result was tough and flavorless. Contacted customer service and was informed that the meats were within standard, which didn't exactly solve the problem. Consistency is paramount when purchasing specialty meats online, and sadly, ElkUSA fell short of that standard. Even the jerky was inconsistent ? one package was okay, another package was too dry and nearly inedible. Considering how much is charged for shipping and the meat itself, the quality should be far more predictable. Until the company addresses these issues, I?ll be seeking alternative providers with more reliable quality control.

Contacted the company with criticism and got a boilerplate reply with no reimbursement or follow-up. Packaging was adequate, but that doesn't compensate for lackluster product.
